This is done at the initial consultation with a potential patient, and includes:
- Medical history
- Pain assessment
- Body composition
- Postural assessment
- Functional movement tests in order to assess Biomechanics
- Neural tests
- Range of motion /flexibility tests
- Muscle strength tests
- Goal setting and feedback
The information gathered from the assessment is then used to put together a scientifically based and specific exercise programme to suit the patient’s needs.
Sessions vary in duration from 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 60 minutes. All sessions are billed according to Discovery medical aid rates.
Sessions are tailored according to the specific phases of rehabilitation and include a cardiovascular warm-up, stretching,isometric and isotonic exercises as well as some strength training tailored to the patient’s goals or condition.
